Mr. CHUANG, Jung-Yuan

Always attending to the needs of others

Teacher Jung-Yuan Chuang was born in Kaohsiung City. He
discontinued his school education, due to the family needs, and joined
the family’s chicken farming business. After witnessing killings in the
workplace, Teacher Chuang felt uncomfortable and looked to religion
to obtain inner peace. Later, his family switched to restaurant and
hotel businesses. While managing his family’s businesses, Teacher
Chuang always put himself into the shoes of his staff and shared the
businesses’ profits with them. After encountering Tzu Chi, he visited
Hualien and learned what Tzu Chi has done since 1966. As a result,
he felt deeply touched and decided to be a Silent Mentor. During his
lifetime, “Attending to the needs of others, and doing the right things
as well as doing things right” inspired him to help others. Moreover, he
decided to give of himself selflessly for medical education after passing
and wished to sow compassionate seeds in our hearts.
