Taking good care of his family and loving to be with
friends

Teacher Pang-Hsien Liu’s parents were farmers. He was open-
minded and loved to be with people. After getting married, he and his
bride settled down in Taipei and managed a happy family. Teacher Liu
guided his children with trust and respect, and loved his grandchildren,
so he often took walks with them. He worked for Taiwan Power
Company for over forty years, always did his best and thus earned the
high regard of his peers. Teacher Liu loved to be with his friends and
often chatted with his neighbors. Because of his friendliness, he had
many friends, and among them, ten had been his closest friends since
he was young. After being diagnosed with cancer, Teacher Liu faced
it courageously, and continued to pay visits to his friends. Reaching
the end of his life, he decided to be our Silent Mentor, wishing to help
enhance our surgical skills and cultivate our compassion.
